About the role

  • Serving as a campus resource, our trained FYE student workers are knowledgeable about the CSN college experience, assist new students in their transition to CSN, and provide continuous engagement and connections with students throughout the first year.
  • They are trained experts in the first-year student journey at CSN, having a broad understanding of the variables that may positively or negatively affect a first-year student's experience.
  • FYE Peer Leaders represent the diversity of the CSN community in experience, interests and ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Support other welcoming initiatives such as Welcome Back days, CSN Connections, and other events as assigned.
  • Support Students First Stations throughout the academic year to assist new students with completing CSN applications, scheduling appointments for academic advising, providing resource awareness, and assisting enrollment efforts.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study at CSN for Summer 2026 (or 2026-207 Academic Year)
  • Currently enrolled as a CSN student in a Degree/Certificate program for Summer 2026 (or 2026-2027 Academic year)
  • Must have good communication skills and ability to engage with students, parents, families, and CSN staff
  • At application, must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 or greater
  • Concern for others and ability to interact well as a member of a team
  • Required Attachment(s)
  • Show a financial aid eligible major (degree or certificate program) declared with the CSN Office of the Registrar, and

  • This can be found in your CSN email or in your MyCSN Communication Center
  • o A screenshot of your accepted award for the appropriate semester from the "View/Accept Financial Aid" screen in your MyCSN.
