About the role
- Planned Parenthood of Maryland (PPM) is a not-for-profit family planning agency that provides high-quality, affordable reproductive health care for women, men, and teens.
- We help individuals make informed decisions about their reproductive health, family planning options, and sexuality.
- Review with and give to patient all PPM education sheets concerning their visit/services/procedures and contraceptive choices.
Responsibilities
- Qualifies for PSLF and other PPFA Student Loan support
- Document patient's decisions on chart.
Requirements
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
Nice to have
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Epic Patient Management Software is a plus!
Skills
- Has contact with employees, patients and outside agencies, furnishing and obtaining information.
- Requires a cooperative and courteous attitude, as well as excellent phone and communication skills.
Compensation
- OSHA Category: Tasks performed by this position may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
- All employees are required to have Rubella immunization and Tuberculosis screening as a condition of employment, with annual Tuberculosis testing thereafter; all employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B immunization at any time at no charge.

- Provide empathetic, non-judgmental, non-directive educational counseling sessions to clients.
- Ensure informed consent via information and education about the medical procedures, requested/required laboratory tests, and methods of contraception to assure understanding of risks and complications.
- Assure that patient is firm in decision to receive services from PPM, including medical procedures/examinations, medications, and testing.
- Assist during medical examination.
