About the role

  • include participation in diagnostic casework, client consultation, outreach and educational activities, and continuous improvement efforts that enhance the quality and impact of diagnostic services.
  • Scholarly activities will include publishing research findings and presenting results at professional, scientific, and stakeholder meetings.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will develop expertise in performing, troubleshooting, interpreting, and consulting on the full range of antibody-based diagnostic assays offered through the VDL's Serology Section.
  • The position will also support initiatives to improve service accessibility and client engagement for the VDL's international clientele, particularly in Latin America.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent
  • Advanced training and experience in swine epidemiology and diagnostic medicine

Nice to have

  • Ph.D. in Veterinary Epidemiology or a closely related field.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with veterinary diagnostic laboratory operations.
  • Record of refereed publications and presentations (oral and poster) at scientific meetings in applied veterinary epidemiology, diagnostic medicine, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English and Spanish, including the ability to communicate effectively with international clients and collaborators.

  • In addition, the postdoctoral scholar will conduct applied research on swine health, including evaluating and applying diagnostic tools and data to support disease surveillance, control, and eradication efforts.
