About the role
- This role sits in our Denver office and requires 2-3 days per week in-office.
- Why This Role Exists Our finance function needs to grow up with the business.
- You will free the Controller to focus on technical accounting, audit, equity, tax, and strategic finance while you keep the financial engine running cleanly and on time.
Responsibilities
- About A2Z Sync A2Z Sync is building the operating system for U.S. automotive retail - a market measured in trillions, still operating on disconnected, decades-old systems.
- Drive the monthly close checklist to completion on time.
- Own timely reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, AR, AP, accrued liabilities, and deferred revenue.
- Maintain supporting schedules for deferred revenue and revenue recognition under the Controller's direction.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, depreciation/amortization entries, and prepaid expense schedules.
- Assist with 1099s, W-2 reconciliation support, and property tax filings.
- We measure our success by the dealer's wins and the trust of their buyers, not just our own code.
- you will own the day-to-day rhythm of the close, run reconciliations independently, and bring discipline to core accounting workflows.
Requirements
- Required Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Hands-on experience with at least one cloud accounting system (Rillet, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to run a monthly close independently, hit deadlines, and produce audit-ready workpapers.
- Comfort with a fast-paced, AI-forward environment - you actively use AI tools in your workflow and look for ways to automate the repetitive.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities without dropping balls.
- Familiarity with ASC 606 (revenue recognition) and ASC 842 (lease accounting).
- Experience with our stack or similar tools: Rillet, Ramp, HubSpot, BambooHR, Carta.
Nice to have
- Drafting flux commentary from variance data.
- Generating first-pass reconciliation narratives and exception summaries.
- Parsing vendor contracts for revenue recognition triggers and key terms.
- Summarizing transaction batches for review.
- Auto-categorizing edge-case GL coding decisions with human-in-the-loop review.
- You will not be replaced by AI.
- You will be the accountant who replaces three accountants' worth of manual work with it.
- What You Bring Required Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Skills
- Rillet, Ramp, HubSpot, BambooHR, Carta.
- Direct exposure to a Series B company's full finance stack - equity, treasury, multi-state tax, ASC 606/842, and audit.
- Hybrid flexibility (2-3 days in-office) with a real Denver Tech Center workspace, not a phantom office.
Compensation
- Annual performance bonus eligibility.
- The expected salary range for this role is $83,000 to $113,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Maintain vendor records, ensure W-9s are on file, and support annual 1099 reporting.
