About the role

  • Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of network infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Install, configure, and monitor network infrastructure including switches, routers, servers, and cabling systems.
  • Provide recommendations on policies, procedures, equipment, and long-term goals for network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce standards for computer and network cabling, wireless systems, and infrastructure design.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain UPS hardware to ensure power reliability.
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain patch panels, network cables, telephony and network equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Provide third level technical support for Technical Support Services and other college departments.
  • Perform professional network and other low volage wiring for offices, labs, and relocations, ensuring neat installations with wall plates, molding, and pipe.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field.
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, minimum of Associate degree and two (2) years of experience in system administration or networks may be substituted.
  • Experience with IP routing, computing services, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), virtual networks, cloud services, network design and implementation.
  • Strong understanding and experiences with LAN and WAN fundamentals and related protocols is essential.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Computer experience with databases, MS Office, client/server technology.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related technical discipline
  • Microsoft, Cisco or equivalent networking certification.
  • Cisco, Microsoft or related experience.
  • Three (3) plus years of experience in computer networking.
  • Experience in managing systems that requires high security clearance.
  • English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence.
  • Normal office physical demands.
