About the role
- With approximately 100,000 planted acres in California's San Joaquin Valley, Wonderful Orchards is the world's largest grower of almonds, pistachios and pomegranates.
- Can inspect heavy duty trucks according to DOT and CHP rules and regulations.
- Capable of completing assigned tasks independently as well as with other mechanics.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance by changing oil and filters as well as other parts
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Performs work in inspection and fueling of farm equipment and vehicles.
Requirements
- Keeping all required documentation and licensing current and legible
- Must be able to fill out and maintain log books or comparable means of keeping driving hours logged as well as fueling sheets and keep track of gallons used.
Nice to have
- Pass driving and fueling assessment given by Shop management
- Class A or B with tanks endorsement.
- Haz-Mat endorsement a plus
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Skills
- Valid Commercial California Driver's License (class A or B) with reliable transportation to and from work
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Works effectively individually or on a team to complete goals or tasks
- Staying informed about and adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations related to hazardous materials handling.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, emergency response protocols, and chemical compatibility.
- Ability to follow strict procedures and accurately identify hazardous materials.
- Properly packaging and labeling hazardous materials according to regulatory standards to ensure safe transport and storage
- Loading, unloading, and securing objects / hazardous materials following all safety protocols and regulations
- Effective communication to relay information regarding hazardous materials incidents and safety concerns.
- Ability to quickly assess situations involving hazardous materials and make appropriate decisions in emergency scenarios
