Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures of financial recordkeeping and reporting
- maintains accounting internal controls and safeguards
- Maintains inter-entity reconciliation and related financial recordkeeping processes to ensure compliance with accounting and control systems
- Leads all audit and tax preparation activities and manages relationships with auditors and outsourced vendors
- Supports the CFO in engaging the Board and committees (Audit, Finance) on audit, tax, and financial results
- Manages, mentors, and develops a high-performing accounting team
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures of financial recordkeeping and reporting; maintains accounting internal controls and safeguards
- Manages, mentors, and develops a high-performing accounting team; leverages team strengths and clarifies roles and responsibilities
- Directly supervises treasury, Development Assistant Controller, and Property Assistant Controller; performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to clearly and effectively present information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and all levels of management
- Must have the ability to select, motivate, retain, coach, and develop a high-performing team
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in accounting from an accredited university and 10 years of progressive accounting responsibility or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Significant accounting leadership experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Officer
- Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
- Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Strong leadership and management skills with previous experience managing people, delegating workload, and providing direction/corrections as necessary
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License, proof of current auto insurance, and reliable transportation

- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks
- Frequently sitting
- Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 15 pounds
Nice to have
- Experience within affordable housing/real estate industry preferred
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification preferred
Compensation
- $250,000.00 - $275,000.00 Annual Salary - Pay based on applicable experience and qualifications
