About the role
- The Labourer assists arborists with tree care and maintenance tasks, working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- The job typically includes tasks like tree pruning, trimming, tree removal, and clearing debris.
- Labourers may also be responsible for operating equipment such as chainsaws, stump grinders, chippers, and ropes.
Responsibilities
- Support Arborists fetching tools, holding materials, or providing general help
- Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions
- Actively support and encourage working safely and supporting a positive team environment
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's culture of safety and employee ownership
- Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
Requirements
- During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster

- Essential Job Duties:
- Keep the worksite clean and organized by removing fallen tree debris, including branches, leaves, and trunks
- Ensure that pathways are clear and safe for workers and equipment
- Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper
- Set up tools and equipment for arborists to use
- Set up barriers or signs to keep the area safe for the crew and the public
- Request repairs or replacement of equipment when necessary
- Report safety hazards or unsafe working conditions to supervisors
- Ensure that materials and equipment are stored in a safe and organized manner
- Other Duties:
- Position may require some outside travel
- Works around excessive noise from machines, chainsaws, woodchipper and must wear proper personal protective equipment
