About the role
- Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Communications & Cyber Security team as a Software Engineer Intern in Boise, Idaho.
- If you're a student attending a local university and can work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Requirements
- Current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed.
- Experience with object-oriented programming through coursework, projects, or internships.
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C, C++, C#, or Python.
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Nice to have
- Coursework or hands-on experience in computer networking, network security, or cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Experience using version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of operating system fundamentals.

Skills
- Assisting with validation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Writing and maintaining automated tests.
- Learning about networking technologies and cybersecurity best practices.
- Participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Continuously identifying, measuring, and improving processes.
- Following and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
- Our technologies help detect faults, prevent equipment damage, and reduce the impact of power outages.
Compensation
- Data - $24.25 - $33.00 hourly
- Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk with your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
