About the role
- The Estimator position prepares detailed cost estimates for proposed infrastructure and heavy civil projects involving both competitive bid and negotiated type work.
- Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing.
- Ability to address an audience of various sizes and effectively communicate his/her message and ideas.
Requirements
- P erformance of the required duties will require physical ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk, generally up to 7 hours per day and occasionally standing and walking.
- Regularly required to use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine).
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and lift up to 15 pounds.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- with preferable two years of experience as a Project Engineer, and with a minimum of five years of diversified estimating and construction experience.
- Prior field experience in civil construction supporting infrastructure work is preferred
- Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pump Stations, Substations and Electrical Conveyance, Mass Transit Stations, Horizontal utility development and distribution at a campus level.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure construction costs, production-based estimating, and unit-pricing contract structures
- Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
Skills
- Working knowledge of the following software: WinEst, OST, Revit, HCSS, Excel
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrate a desire to continue to learn and grow, and a desire for continuous improvement.
- Adept in quickly learning new software, related to drafting, modeling, estimating and scheduling
- Working knowledge of construction drawings, costs and principals
- Understanding of Labor, Equipment, and Material rates.
- Analytical, highly versatile, extremely organized, have a keen attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively lead, manage and mentor staff.
- Advanced decision quality and use of sound judgement.
- Advanced customer focus and the ability to work cohesively with many constituents.
Compensation
- Range of base pay is $153,000-$168,000.
