About the role
- Define electrical interfaces between battery modules, BMS, PCS/inverters, safety systems, and control systems.
- We're looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical system architectures for Battery Energy Storage Systems, including HV distribution, protection, and interconnect strategies.
- Translate high-level product architecture into detailed electrical designs suitable for manufacturing and deployment.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness designs for production systems.
- Design high-voltage AC & DC distribution systems (600V+), including protection devices, disconnects, busbars, and safety interlocks.
- Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure electrical designs can be built efficiently on the production floor.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical components within enclosures and system packaging.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical integration issues during prototype builds, validation testing, and product launches.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, documentation practices, and electrical architecture guidelines.
- Moment Energy is seeking an Electrical Systems Architect to design and develop the electrical systems that power Moment Energy's next-generation Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of system design, manufacturability, and product integration.
Nice to have
- Experience working with lithium-ion battery systems.
- Familiarity with grid-connected energy systems or PCS integration.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for serviceability (DFS).
- Knowledge of UL1973, UL1974 UL9540, UL1741 and UL9540A certification processes.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards
- dual exposure to CEC and NEC.
- Today, we're delivering 5x the energy density and have all the certifications needed to ship energy independence to the world.
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience designing electrical systems for high-voltage or high-power products.
- Experience designing electrical systems for BESS, EV systems, renewable energy systems, or industrial power equipment.
- Strong experience with high-voltage DC systems (600V+), including protection, grounding, and safety strategies.
- Strong experience with 3-phase AC systems (480V+), including transformers, switch gear and breaker sizing
- Experience designing systems that must meet CEC, NEC and UL safety standards or equivalent certification requirements.
- Demonstrated experience bringing electrical systems from prototype to production.
- Strong collaboration skills with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams.
- Previous experience in a high-growth fast-paced environment is highly desired.
