About the role
- Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions.
- FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with and developing promotional activities for the three centers.
- Assisting students with the visa process and providing support in understanding provided visa guidance.
- Providing back up support for AU Abroad front desk operations.

- The incumbent must be an enrolled AU graduate student.

- This position is for the 2026-2027 Academic Year and will be for up to 20 hours/week.
- Scheduled work hours are preferred within Tuesday through Thursday between 9:00am-5:00pm. Afternoon presence is requested/preferred.
- All hours require in-office presence.
- Preference for candidates who can start on August 24, 2026.
- This position is available only to enrolled American University students.

Nice to have
- Strong attention to detail and reliability are essential for success.
- Candidates should be patient, creative, able to work independently, have experience with data-entry, have experience organizing events for students, and be familiar with social media.
- Experience previously working in a study abroad office or in a student-facing capacity is a plus.
- Organizational skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required.
- The right candidate will have excellent customer service skills and be able to multi-task during peak volume times.
- Scheduled work hours are preferred within Tuesday through Thursday between 9:00am-5:00pm.
- Afternoon presence is requested/preferred.
Skills
- Processing application materials.
- Organizing additional activities for students such as pre-departure and alumni events.
- Developing and maintaining program websites.
- Establishing creative new outreach methods to engage with students in these three programs.
- Maintaining AU Abroad's social media platforms.
- Maintaining the alumni database.
Compensation
- $18.50 per hour.
