About the role

  • To help reduce or eliminate speech and hearing impediments that interferes with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program.
  • The Speech Pathologist will service students in Orleans Parish non-public schools.
  • Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement;

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy and language activities into the student's daily schedule;
  • Provides information, support, and counseling to agencies and families when appropriate;
  • Keeps abreast of assistive technology strategies and is able to implement appropriate strategies to enhance student language acquisition;
  • Develops compliant speech evaluation reports from assessments conducted.
  • Delivers speech and language services in accordance with all federal, state regulations and local policy and procedures;
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies.

Requirements

  • Completes all required reports both local and state
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • A valid Speech License and Teaching certificate in Speech Pathology are required
  • Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
  • Must possess basic computer skills and demonstrate the ability to use various types of software programs;
  • Completes all required reports both local and state; and

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree preferred;
