Working collaboratively with faculty, academic departments, international institutions, and external organizations worldwide, TGE ensures that global experiences are academically rigorous, culturally immersive, and aligned with institutional priorities.
As a University resource, TGE provides leadership and expertise in international program development, global partnership management, student mobility, international operations, compliance, health and safety, risk management, and cross-campus collaboration.
Through these efforts, the division strengthens Tufts' global presence and prepares students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Program Assessment: Responsible for evaluating all external study abroad program and student participation (academic quality, student experience, safety). Lead data-informed program review
Partnerships & Projects: Develop partnerships with international partners and providers.
Cultivate close relationships in order to support the development of custom short programs and new models of partnerships with other TGE staff.
Collaborate with other campus programs, faculty, staff, and international partners to design new opportunities.
Lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed.
The AD creates and leads student outreach, enrollment, pre-departure, and re-entry orientation programs within a robust and accessible advising environment.
Building close relationships with external partners and providers will be essential as part of the day-to-day management of the program portfolio.
To meet division and institutional goals, the AD supports marketing and promotion efforts for all of TGE.
They need to work effectively with various academic and student service units, as well as outside constituents (parents, international and national partners, etc.), to deliver the highest quality student experience possible.
Advising: Implement scalable, robust, and diverse advising approaches(e.g. 1:1 advising, group advising, social media, video, Canvas courses, student groups, etc.).

Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
Bachelor's Degree
Excellent organizational skills required.
Proven project management skills, attention to detail, and strong follow through
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively with college students, faculty, staff, and parents
Study abroad experience or significant travel and work abroad required
Ability to work effectively in intercultural situations, and in dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere in which expectations are high.
Must be able to handle multiple and complex responsibilities
This role requires leadership, excellent communication skills, understanding of student development, and they must be extremely organized.

Experience with program assessment and design
Experience managing partnerships or programs abroad
Experience working with diverse student populations
Communication and outreach experience
Designing academic and student programs abroad
Ability to analyze and summarize information and make appropriate recommendations for program revisions in the context of institutional and programmatic goals
Experience managing student employees
Knowledge of other languages desirable

Determine and evaluate transfer of credit for students returning from abroad, as well as for international transfer students.
Establish a transfer of credit database with other unit and a process for credit evaluation.
Research education and credit systems of international universities as well as provider processes.
Work with faculty and other staff at Tufts for assistance with translations of transcripts.
Confer with department transfer credit representatives regarding credit questions.
Review and track each student's SIS record to make sure s/he is in good academic standing.
In consultation with Student Life, confirm and track student's good disciplinary standing.

Minimum $67,200.00, Midpoint $83,900.00, Maximum $100,700.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity

The Assistant Director is responsible for advising students participating in affiliate programs (more than 400 students per year).
Partner with academic units on discipline-specific advising needs (e.g. Engineering, Fine Arts, Pre-Med, Sciences, etc.) for approximately 500-700 students per year across program portfolio.
