About the role
- This role involves managing driver training activities, ensuring vehicle safety and maintenance, and coordinating vehicle operations in collaboration with various teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- The Driver Safety Trainer is responsible for overseeing the training of new and existing drivers across all classes of vehicles, collaborates with the maintenance team, and provides support for vehicle coordination and scheduling.
- This role also provides driver support to other teams in the organization when needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all driver training activities and certifications.
- Collaborate with teams to understand their specific driving needs and tailor training programs accordingly.
- Collaborate with diverse teams to tailor training programs to meet specific driving needs.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure effective communication of vehicle inspection results and address safety issues promptly.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance driver safety and maintenance procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall operational efficiency, including driver support.
Requirements
- 5 years' transportation experience required.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals.
- Proficiency in using DriveCam software or similar tools such as SmartDrive.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in driver training.
Nice to have
- Conduct driver training sessions for new and existing drivers on safe driving practices and coach drivers on myriad ways to improve/avoid.
- Utilize DriveCam software to monitor and provide diagnostic feedback and specific improvements needed for drivers to reduce overall incidents and improve safety.
- Provide driver insights to their supervisors in an effort to enhance and improve overall operational efficiency and safety.
- Ensure all drivers adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
- Coordinate with maintenance team to prioritize and address vehicle service and repair needs.
- Assist in tracking and confirming the scheduling of vehicles, including dispatching as needed.
Skills
- Coach drivers on improving their driving skills and addressing safety concerns.
