- Position Purpose: The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings, wastewater treatment plant equipment and machines and machine tools.
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain pumps, valves, motors and other process equipment.
- Set up and proficiently operate machine tools to design, make and repair mechanisms and equipment, such as shafts, bushings, sleeves, gears, bearings and other related parts as assigned.
- Perform welding functions on buildings and equipment in the treatment plant including repair and fabrication work if permitted and authorized to do so.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of plant equipment as assigned.
- Responsible for general housekeeping of maintenance shop, job sites, work areas and other areas as assigned including, but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mapping, cleaning and painting as necessary to maintain areas to Company standards.
Requirements
- The incumbent will be responsible to guide and train less experienced personnel in areas of expertise.
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, plumber, electrician, or HVAC technician.
- Knowledge or/and ability to safely operate electrical test equipment, conduit bender, grinders, nibblers, angle iron cutter, hydraulic press, hoist and other hand or power tools equipment related to the job.
- Ability to understand the required functions of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ability to cut with a cutting torch and an arc rod and ability to solder and weld.
- Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
Skills
- Recommend replacement parts needed.
- Maintain computerized work orders and records as directed.
- Provide assistance and direction to less experienced mechanics and/or assigned helpers.
- May provide support to other skilled trades employees.
- Observes all on-the-job safety regulations.
- Other related tasks as assigned.
- Knowledge of treatment plant machine equipment operations as well as proper procedures for maintenance and repair of such facilities.
- Must be familiar with all safety regulations and be prepared to work in and supervise confined space entry, and LOTO procedures.
