About the role

- We publish six award-winning daily newspapers - including the Hamilton Spectator and Waterloo Region Record - alongside 27 websites covering communities from Ottawa Valley to Niagara and Parry Sound to Toronto.

Responsibilities
- Participate in our established training program to develop your reporting and research abilities in a supportive environment.
- Able to build professional relationships easily with colleagues and community members.
Requirements
- Our newsrooms fuse the expertise of our trained journalists with first-party data and local insights, keeping citizens informed on the issues that matter most.
- The pitch must have a maximum 150-word summary of the angle and at least two sources to be interviewed.
- Links must be accessible (no paywalls).
- You must be a current or graduating post-secondary student who is eligible to work in Ontario.
Compensation
- Annual internship runs from September 2026 to August 2027.
Benefits
- Provide boots-on-the-ground coverage of the community by attending events and conducting interviews in person.
- You must be able to work full-time hours, which may include weekend, evening and statutory holiday shifts, for the entire program.
