About the role

  • The Principal Medical Writer is responsible for the development and quality of medical content for publication to meet the educational needs of audiences across a range of therapeutic fields.
  • In addition to representing the Clinical Communications team as a content expert, the Principal Medical Writer interfaces with clients, promotional review teams, key opinion leaders, and a variety of internal professional services.
  • Candidates must demonstrate superior communication skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly and multitask to meet deadlines, ensuring content produced meets high standards of quality, accuracy, and relevance for audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform extensive literature reviews on various disease states, therapeutic advancements, and clinical data.
  • Collaborate with project management and creative services to ensure that revisions and appropriate changes are addressed within the scope of the project.
  • Support and train direct reports to independently accomplish all essential roles and responsibilities described above. This will require supplying accurate precise directives for each assignment, review and guidance in best practices of writing/editing,

Requirements

  • Proficiency in AMA style and in-house editorial standards.
  • Travel: Ability to travel for events/meetings (1-3 days quarterly on average).

  • Advanced degree (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, MS) in a healthcare-related field (life sciences, biomedical sciences) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience at a medical communications agency or company.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, manage multiple timelines, and solve problems effectively.
  • Compensation Range:
  • $95,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Eligible for annual company bonus program or commission incentive based on role. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for this position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Compensation
