About the role

  • Northwestern Mutual Capital (NMC) is a committed investor in the private credit (senior & mezzanine) and equity co-investment (common & structured) markets and a leading player in the investment grade privately placed debt market.
  • Principals are responsible for the analysis, evaluations, and execution of private equity and debt investment opportunities originated by NM Capital.
  • Principals are also responsible for monitoring and optimizing investments in the NM Capital portfolio and have opportunity for upward mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop investment theses.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis and modeling.
  • Author investment memos and lead investment committee discussions.
  • Actively monitor and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Collectively, the team manages ~$65B of AUM.
  • The stability of our capital base has led private equity firms and corporations around the world to rely on NMC for strategic funding to support leveraged transactions and capital investments.
  • You'll develop investment theses, conduct industry and business due diligence, review financial models and valuations, structure investment securities, and more.

Requirements

  • A broad knowledge of investments, an understanding of economic forces affecting a wide range of industries, proficiency in accounting, and strong computer modeling skills.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in investment banking, private equity, equity research, or other related industries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written / oral communication and relationship building.
