About the role

  • The YouVersion Data Engineer role will work across technical teams within the organization, including but not limited to Cyber Security, Core Services and Software Engineers on Product teams.
  • The Data Engineer will be responsible for driving data awareness and providing the analytics teams with actionable data.
  • This role will utilize systems-thinking, will require broad technical experience, and an eye for efficiency to aid in delivering the YouVersion strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Drive data awareness and provide the analytics teams with trends and actionable recommendations/information.
  • Collaborate with platform and product teams to ensure all relevant data is being collected.
  • Planning, building, and delivering highly reliable ETL processes.
  • Planning, building, and developing real-time analytics through data pipelines.
  • Manage user events in the YouVersion bible app to bring our data governance to the next level.
  • Manage schedules and duties to efficiently meet the needs of the organization in the pursuit of leading others to become fully devoted follower of Christ.
  • The YouVersion Data Engineer will develop and build data pipelines and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) that lead to increased engagement and growth through the Bible App across the globe.

Requirements

  • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions and problem solve with innovation.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree + advanced certification.
  • Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster
  • Partnerships.
  • Strong presentation creation and facilitation skills.
  • Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure and provide vision to projects.
  • Skilled in Python, Go, Java, C++ or other general-purpose programming languages.
  • Proficient with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Luigi, dbt, etc.
  • Proficient in Database Management Systems, such as Postgres or MySQL.
  • Experienced with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud data solutions such as AWS or Azure.

Compensation

  • $160 annually in development dollars for team members to invest in their professional growth.
