About the role

  • Join Our Team KLS Earthworks & Environmental is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Calgary-based team.
  • This role is an addition to our strong maintenance group and plays a key part in keeping our on-road fleet operating safely, efficiently, and at peak performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on on-road construction equipment including gravel trucks, truck and pup combinations, end-dump trailers, lowboy trailers, equipment haulers, service trucks, and other commercial fleet vehicles.
  • Perform Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections and ensure equipment complies with provincial and federal transportation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders while coordinating parts requirements and repair schedules.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with repair tools including hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, and alignment equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical Components.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair truck and trailer components using welding, cutting, hand tools, and power tools as required.
  • Respond to fleet breakdowns and provide field service support when required to minimize downtime and keep projects operating efficiently.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across a broad range of machinery including Packers, Pavers and Rollers.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various outdoor environments under different weather conditions.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Nice to have

  • Proven mechanic experience with a focus on heavy-duty equipment
  • dealership experience is highly preferred.
