About the role

  • As a PWI Mechanical Engineer you will work in a dynamic and changing environment, designing mechanical systems and sub-systems for current and next generation digital inkjet web press platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design engineering solutions for mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware based on established engineering principles in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.
  • Develop and implement parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, system power measurements & acoustics.
  • Lead and/or work on cross-functional, multi-disciplinary project teams with other engineers and development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for highly-complex products.
  • Collaborate and communicate with management, internal and outsourced development partners, and other key stakeholders regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Represent the mechanical design team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (undergraduate) degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline (preference given to Mechanical Engineering, but relevant work experience/expertise will be considered)
  • Ability to work across multiple technical disciplines
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly and appropriately to changing business needs
  • 4-6 years of mechanical design experience
  • Experience in delivering technical solutions and systems across all phases of the design cycle (concept through prototype through manufacturing through end of life/obsolescence)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
  • Proactive, innovative, self-motivating character
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architecture, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels
  • Fluency in English
