About the role

  • Provides instruction and/or oversight to camp participants for assigned activity.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers camp programs that are appropriate for the age and ability of campers including writing lesson plans and evaluate camper abilities and success of programs.
  • Participates as a member of the camp staff to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events and all other camp activities and camp functions.

Requirements

  • Required - High School diploma or equivalent
  • Required - If providing activity instruction in one of the following areas, the following certifications are required:
  • Archery: Level One USA Archery Training required
  • Canoeing: American Canoe Association Certification required or 5 experience is accepted in lieu of certification
  • Aquatics Director: Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required
  • Lifeguards: Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required and skills test
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups participating and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
  • Ability to observe staff and camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
  • Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the ability to maintain constant supervision of campers.

Nice to have

  • Preferred - Camp counselor or camp instructor experience
  • Preferred - CPR Certification through Red Cross or American Heart Association

Skills

  • Teaches the associated knowledge and skills and assists campers in achieving activity goals.
  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Compensation

  • $20k-$50k
