About the role
- This position rotates among three different departments, Student Central, Admissions, and Placement Testing based on operational needs.
- This role provides guidance on key campus services, including financial aid, student records, course registration, and residency for tuition purposes.
- Counsels students regarding financial aid programs; regularly interacts with students and parents and follows up on missing or deficient information in person, by telephone, email, and chat.
Responsibilities
- Manages multiple assignments of varying complexity while meeting federal as well as internal regulations and procedures, with the ability to adapt to changing needs of the College and business partners.
- While the Specialist primarily assists students in person, they may also provide support by phone, email, and chat.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff and community to support initiatives.
- Utilizes professional proctoring to support and secure testing environment.
- Utilizes professional proctoring procedures to support a secure testing environment.
- Provides general support to students and guests, including assistance with registration, student record updates, residency verification, and financial aid processes.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of clerical experience in the area of the assigned specialized function.
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s)
- Facilitates prerequisite authorizations and other permissions required for student enrollment.

- Attends all required departmental meetings and trainings.
Compensation
- Works closely with students throughout the admission and enrollment process and supports the areas of Student Central, Admissions, Assessment & Placement, and New Student Programs.
- Counsels students regarding financial aid programs; regularly interacts with students and parents and follows up on missing or deficient information in person, by telephone, email, and chat.
- Gathers information from students to understand and evaluate individual circumstances; interprets relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines to determine best course of action.
- Introduces new students to Columbus State systems and resources while assisting with admissions.
- Provides campus tours for in-person events and information sessions while serving as a member of the Welcome Team.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff and community to support initiatives.
