Responsibilities
- Our natural setting is enhanced by its modern, attractive, and state-of-the-art classroom buildings and support facilities.
- Coordinate and administer routine functions of the laboratory and implement technical procedures to be used in data collection.
- Order laboratory supplies, reagents and equipment; maintain records of lab supplies and equipment. Maintain inventory of the lab; prepare requisitions and process vouchers.
- Research Support
- Performs standard molecular genetics techniques such as DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and polymerase chain-reaction (PCR)
- Modifies existing protocols and develop new protocols for next-generation DNA sequencing
Requirements
- Masters degree in biological sciences.
- Knowledge of molecular biology laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus and computer equipment.
- Experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation or other genomic techniques
- Ability to balance multiple projects and pay close attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience with laboratory management
- Bachelors in biological sciences
- Two (2) years of related experience.
- Additional education may be considered as substitution for the minimum experience requirement:
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in the biological sciences
- Two years in scientific research related to molecular biology
- NOTE: Employment may be impacted by the Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025 and the moratorium issued by Texas Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026.
- This position is grant-funded.
- Continued employment is contingent upon continued funding.
