About the role

  • You will leverage internal and external resources (law firms, risk managers, brokers, and other subject matter experts (SMEs)) to offer relevant, topical learning content and discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of technical training programs focused primarily on underwriting and claims.
  • Create an introductory curriculum for those new to the insurance industry to assist them in developing their insurance knowledge.
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to source, validate, and enhance training content
  • recommend and implement targeted solutions to address skill gaps.
  • Coordinate and support the development of management and leadership training initiatives as they relate to underwriting and claims functions.
  • Work with other Human Resources personnel to help document and drive the adoption of job families.
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to source, validate, and enhance training content; coordinate SME-led sessions and integrate them into the broader curriculum.
  • Assess training needs through consultation with business leaders, analysis of performance data, and direct feedback from participants; recommend and implement targeted solutions to address skill gaps.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the property-casualty insurance industry, with a strong background in developing underwriting and/or claims training materials.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, presenting, and coordinating technical insurance training programs.
  • Proven experience facilitating both live (virtual and in-person) and online training for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams.
  • For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.
  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, Human Resources, education, or a related field required
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently to Starr's domestic office locations for in-person training delivery and collaboration.

Nice to have

  • advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, AIC, SHRM-CP/SCP) a plus.
  • familiarity with Cornerstone LMS a plus.
