Responsibilities

  • This role also helps lead our breastfeeding and First Year Friends support groups, with the option to teach childbirth classes.
  • Develops, implements and coordinates individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process as appropriate for RN's as applicable to the assigned area(s).
  • Maintains nursing standards of care and responds to changing workloads and patient conditions by: remaining calm, making objective assessments, prioritizing, and asking for assistance as appropriate.
  • Transcribes and implements provider orders and treatments both verbal and written accurately and efficiently as noted by chart reviews and observation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years postpartum and newborn RN experience required
  • IBCLC or CLC certification required.
  • ALS(ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • NRP certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire/transfer.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory to administer and evaluate patient care
  • NRP within six (6) months of hire required.
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics, and flammable items
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first.
  • basic medical office procedures and medical terminology.
  • Healthcare Provider (HCP) CPR, ACLS, and/or BLS certification required and/or as dictated by each practice/service line. NRP within six (6) months of hire required.

  • The Postpartum Visit Nurse plays an important role in leading the Baby-Friendly certification process and ensuring the department remains current and compliant with related practices and policies.
  • Class scheduling responsibilities are shared on a rotating basis.
