About the role
- This position involves fabricating, fitting, and welding steel components while working from detailed shop drawings and production specifications.
- The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, produces high-quality craftsmanship, and can adapt to changing production priorities.
Responsibilities
- Perform layout, measuring, cutting, fitting, welding, grinding, and finishing operations.
- Maintain production schedules while producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Identify fabrication issues and assist in developing practical solutions.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and shop documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Regular use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection, and appropriate work clothing.
- Long pants are required while working on the shop floor.
- welding certifications are a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Team-oriented with the flexibility to support multiple production priorities.
- Willingness to work on different projects to meet production deadlines.
- Work Environment
- Indoor fabrication shop with exposure to welding fumes, dust, paint vapors, exhaust, and industrial noise.
- Frequent work around moving machinery, powered equipment, and electrical hazards.
Nice to have
- Fabricate and assemble railings, stair systems, ladders, and other miscellaneous metal products.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, job travelers, and fabrication specifications.
- Operate fabrication equipment including saws, shears, press brakes, welding machines, and other shop tools.
- Verify completed work meets quality standards and project specifications.
- Work with supervisors, engineers, and fabrication team members to complete assigned projects.
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and compliant with workplace safety requirements.
- Adapt to changing production priorities and move between projects as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
