About the role

  • The Milwaukee Youth Organizer strengthens the Core Leadership of Voces de la Frontera's youth arm, Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES), by recruiting, training, and motivating student leaders in Voces' organizational and campaign activities.
  • The Milwaukee Youth Organizer also recruits and involves new youth leaders through providing direct assistance with DACA and college access.
  • Essential Duties: • Leadership development and follow up with Core Leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with YES Lead Youth Organizer and teacher advisor to support high school YES chapters
  • Co-manage YES social media
  • Maintain recruitment, training, and follow up with Core Leaders
  • Maintain communication with YES Lead Youth Organizer and Organizing Director through weekly work plans and daily reports
  • Manage youth membership progress along with youth staff and leaders to meet yearly membership goals
  • Attend high school chapter meetings biweekly for assigned chapters to build membership, involve current and new teacher advisors, increase parent involvement, and build leadership of student leaders

Requirements

  • The employee must have reliable transportation and will be required to commute to work.
  • The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
  • 1-2 years of relationship-based organizing, leadership development, and team building. ▪ Strong knowledge of VAN is preferred. ▪ Experience with digital organizing a plus ▪ Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations preferred.

Compensation

  • Supervisors, managers, and directors are responsible for conducting annual employee performance reviews for the members of their teams.
