About the role
- Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation's Conveyance Division is seeking an ambitious team player to join our Odor Abatement Unit.
- If you have experience in operation, maintenance and troubleshooting wastewater conveyance system assets, join our team, we can use your skills.
- Essential Functions: As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.
Responsibilities
- As a lead for this team, you will be responsible for management of complex odor control sites, equipment and instruments, including monitoring and maintaining odor control systems used throughout the conveyance system.
- Leads and trains staff in sanitary sewage metering, CCTV inspections, and odor control techniques;
- Performs operational and preventive maintenance on complex wastewater systems, including monitoring flow and odor levels;
- Installs, operates, and maintains flow monitoring, CCTV, and odor control equipment;
- Inspects and documents data on odor levels, flow rates, pipeline conditions, and meter operations;
- Collaborates in developing new techniques for wastewater measurement and condition assessment;
- Manages automated data systems for documentation and reporting;
- Performs confined space entries in sewer manholes and other locations.
Requirements
- Completion of three college-level classes from an accredited college, university or trade school in physical or environmental science AND two years of experience in environmental technology.
- Two years of experience in the maintenance and/or operation of sanitary sewage treatment/conveyance facilities AND six months of experience as a lead which can be concurrent with the required experience.
- Frequently required to lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

- Valid driver license is required at time of application.
- Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
- Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
Nice to have

- Minimum three (3) years experience with field analysis utilizing manual, mechanical, and electronic metering equipment.
- Minimum three (3) years of direct experience handling and utilizing chemicals within a field setting.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience operating, maintaining and troubleshooting pumps, motors, and gear boxes.
- Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience utilizing Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMA) software, such as Infor IPS or Maximo.

Skills
- Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs computerized monitoring devices, CCTV equipment, and SCADA systems;
- Assesses pipelines and manholes for structural integrity and flow conditions following NAASCO standards;
- Assists in implementing complex flow, CCTV, or odor control projects, providing recommendations for system enhancements;
- Sets up traffic control devices for safe manhole entry to service metering or CCTV equipment;
- Provides public information on sanitary sewer systems;
- Participates in selecting locations for wastewater monitoring and coordinates activities to comply with regulations;
- Conducts special surveys for stormwater inflow and planning purposes;
- Maintains, cleans, and repairs equipment;
- Maintains and operates assigned County equipment and vehicle;
Compensation
- $25.90 - $36.24 Per Hour
- Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
- Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.
- Hiring Range: $25.90 - $31.07 Per Hour
