About the role

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations for a union steel erection company specializing in large-scale commercial structural steel projects, including 5k-20k-ton and larger steel packages.

Develop and maintain accurate Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
Develop and prepare internal monthly reporting package for parent corporation.
Maintain accurate job cost tracking for large commercial steel erection projects.
Partner with Project Managers to review project financial performance.
Develop and implement KPI's for senior management team.
Manage weekly union payroll processing.
Maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements Billing & Contract Administration.

7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in construction accounting.
Strong knowledge of job cost accounting and WIP reporting.
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Support operations with key financial information and insight, candidate should have a basic understanding of the steel erection life cycle and process.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
Experience in structural steel, specialty subcontracting, or heavy commercial construction strongly preferred.
