About the role

  • The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations for a union steel erection company specializing in large-scale commercial structural steel projects, including 5k-20k-ton and larger steel packages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
  • Develop and prepare internal monthly reporting package for parent corporation.
  • Maintain accurate job cost tracking for large commercial steel erection projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers to review project financial performance.
  • Develop and implement KPI's for senior management team.
  • Manage weekly union payroll processing.
  • Maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements Billing & Contract Administration.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in construction accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting and WIP reporting.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Support operations with key financial information and insight, candidate should have a basic understanding of the steel erection life cycle and process.
  • With over 65 years of experience, Walters ensures high quality results through our passion and commitment to every project.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Experience in structural steel, specialty subcontracting, or heavy commercial construction strongly preferred.

  • Competitive salary based on experience ($150,000-$175,000/Year)
