About the role

Responsibilities

  • You will lead mechanical design activities during product development.
  • This will include system layout, mechanical design, and evaluation of feature and cost trade-offs.
  • You will oversee and coordinate the work of partner engineers and overseas engineering teams to ensure the right rate of progress and engineering quality are being achieved.
  • You will identify the most significant program risks, develop the necessary mitigation plans, and communicate team progress through regular reports and reviews.
  • You will lead mechanical design activities during product development. This will include system layout, mechanical design, and evaluation of feature and cost trade-offs.
  • The position requires a solid mix of technical breadth and design experience to integrate mechanical and electrical subsystems into compelling system designs and customer experiences.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field. - OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related technical engineering experience.
  • Outstanding communication skills are required to lead the team, set daily work direction and sync across partner organizations.

Nice to have

  • 7+ years related technical engineering experience. - OR Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related technical engineering experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience.
  • OR Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with system layout and architectural trade-offs for laptop and tablet designs.
  • Experience with collaboration and oversight of the engineering development activities for overseas suppliers and partners.
  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD), preference for Creo.
