About the role

  • This role is a compelling opportunity because you directly impact lab performance, test execution, and the development of core powertrain systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day powertrain testing activities in engine and chassis dynamometer laboratories
  • Prepare, set up, and troubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, and software to maintain lab readiness and minimize downtime
  • Design and support development of test fixtures, test beds, and laboratory layouts
  • Support emissions and combustion testing activities, including data acquisition and analysis
  • Develop and improve test procedures, methods, and automated test sequences
  • Identify and implement improvements to lab efficiency, capability, and reliability
  • Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new test equipment and lab upgrades
  • Develop and maintain scripts or tools to automate testing, data analysis, and reporting
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, facilities, IT, and external vendors to support lab operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in powertrain testing, laboratory testing, or related engineering work
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines and engine subsystems
  • Hands-on experience with engine or chassis dynamometers and related control systems
  • Experience with emissions measurement systems and laboratory testing workflows
  • Experience with programming or scripting tools such as MATLAB, Python, or VBA
  • To qualify for this position, former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for fixture or equipment design
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document and explain technical information
  • Travel as needed (typically less than 5%)

  • The starting pay range for Minnesota is $80,000 to $106,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.

Compensation

  • The starting pay range for Minnesota is $80,000 to $106,000 per year.
