About the role
- The Buyer is responsible for the timely and efficient procurement of services and supplies, leveraging established category strategies and contracts while demonstrating fundamental knowledge of the sourcing and procurement process.
- The position is expected to effectively utilize the company's sourcing and procurement platforms in managing the life cycle of purchase orders and executing procurement in accordance with legal contracts when necessary.
- The position will also be responsible for coaching business stakeholders in the purchasing process, resolving invoice mismatch issues, and communicating effectively with suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate data in contracting and purchasing systems
- Support Senior Buyers with PO Revisions/Completing/Reopening, Obtaining Sales Tax Certificates and Credit Applications, Vendor Setup/Change Requests, handle WNS requests (invoice issues, vendor address issues, etc.)
- Duties may include serving on after hours on call "buyer" rotation, and during emergency operations, to support emergent procurement needs.
- Provides procurement expertise to internal business partners, especially around Vistra's systems and processes
- Process purchase requests, develops purchase orders and contracts in Vistra's P2P platform, in alignment with category strategies.
- Effectively manages the PO lifecycle cradle to grave.
- Supports and promotes Vistra's supplier diversity program in the buying process
Requirements
- Ensures contract compliance especially around safety and insurance adequacy, including ISN compliance when required, before issuing a new PO.
- Ability to effectively understand basic Terms & Conditions and pricing and recognize when escalation is necessary for resolution
- Ability to advocate for, and/or challenge, the internal customer
- ability to persuade others

- Communicate effectively with suppliers using expediting skills as needed to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
