- This position plays a critical role in supporting the strategic and operational functions of the district by managing communication, coordinating administrative processes, and ensuring efficient office operations.
- The hiring range for this position is $30.89 - $38.61 hourly.
Responsibilities
- The Support Specialist Executive within the Operations Division provides high-level, confidential, and proactive administrative support to the assigned district's commander and command personnel.
- This role provides direct administrative support to the command staff and personnel of the respective district's patrol, PAR, DART, and District Criminal Investigations (DCI).
- Prepares, edits, and proofreads memos, reports, presentations, and other documents.
- Supports project management and implementation of district initiatives.
- Maintains and organizes confidential files, records, and correspondence.
- Facilitates internal communications and maintains effective working relationships with department personnel, community partners, other COA departments, and additional stakeholders.
- Completes and maintains personnel orders and tracking documentation.
- Researches, follows up, and documents internal investigations within the district.
Requirements
- Notary certificate (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Applicants selected for safety-sensitive positions are required to complete and pass a drug screening as a condition of employment.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting leadership, specifically in law enforcement, government, or public safety.
- Familiarity with department-specific systems, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with budgeting, procurement, and personnel processes.
- Essential Personnel:
- When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
- Physical Demands:
- Moderate physical work that involves moving no more than 40 pounds with or without assistance
- Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
Skills
- Strong typing and data entry skills.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply department or division policy and procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments.
- This job may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
