Responsibilities

  • As a Senior member of the TASER Electrical Engineering team, you will drive and engage in innovative hands-on design, development, and testing of cutting-edge electronics that are integral to Axon TASER Products.
  • You will apply strong technical expertise and sound engineering judgment to deliver robust, high-quality designs that meet rigorous product and regulatory requirements.
  • In this role, you will own substantial portions of circuit and subsystem designs, support system-level architecture decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional partners across product engineering, firmware, new product introduction, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to raising the technical bar within the team while continuing to grow your own technical leadership capabilities.

  • Research, propose, and develop innovative, industry-leading circuit designs for products such as TASER energy weapons, TASER-enabled devices, wirelessly connected TASER products, and related accessories
  • Design, develop, and verify system circuitry and hardware aligned with project objectives and requirements
  • Using OrCAD Schematic tools, design embedded Mixed-Signal electronic circuitry that integrates high voltage power supply circuitry, microcontrollers, flashlight/indication/display circuitry and drivers, memory devices (FLASH/EEPROM), switch-mode and linear power supplies, batteries, data interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, USB), RF transceivers, electromechanical transducers, and other discrete digital and analog components
  • Collaborate with PCB designers to guide layout implementation and review designs for signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and reliability using Cadence layout tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, technology partners, and manufacturing teams to oversee electronics development throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept to mass production

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of industry leading electronics design experience with emphasis on designing densely populated, tightly packaged, power control and delivery systems in embedded electronics
  • Experience designing products for electromagnetic compatibility and protecting circuitry against electromagnetic interference and electrostatic discharge events.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with electronics bring-up, characterization, and debug using laboratory tools: Oscilloscope, power supplies, multimeters, custom jigs, etc.
  • Experience with Cadence/OrCAD desired.
  • Experience supporting products through regulatory compliance testing
  • Strong proficiency in documentation, analysis, and presentation tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice to have

  • Experience designing tightly packaged, hand-held embedded systems powered by rechargeable batteries, including development with embedded microcontrollers and integration of electromechanical components such as solenoids
