About the role

  • The successful candidate will be a departmental colleague who can provide effective leadership to the Educational Professions Department and will have a record suitable for hiring at the rank of associate or full professor.
  • Credit toward tenure will be considered.
  • The Department of Educational Professions undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Responsibilities

  • The department chair will manage the fiscal, personnel, curricular, outreach and recruitment responsibilities in a department of 20 full-time faculty and 3 staff members.
  • The department chair will lead the CAEP accreditation process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Demonstrates experience directing/coordinating a degree program at the undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate level.
  • Demonstrates experience with assessment which leads to accreditation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to serve as a liaison between the department and college administration fostering community partnerships and professional development.
  • The department chair must be committed to high-quality, student-centered teaching, curricular and pedagogical development, applied research, and faculty mentoring and professional development.

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated evidence of prior academic leadership experience as a department head/chair in a CAEP-accredited program.
  • Demonstrates ability to use and understand data to inform strategic planning and decision making for department.
  • A proven record of teaching and research excellence.
  • More than 4,000 students enroll yearly.
