About the role
- The successful candidate will be a departmental colleague who can provide effective leadership to the Educational Professions Department and will have a record suitable for hiring at the rank of associate or full professor.
- Credit toward tenure will be considered.
- The Department of Educational Professions undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Responsibilities
- The department chair will manage the fiscal, personnel, curricular, outreach and recruitment responsibilities in a department of 20 full-time faculty and 3 staff members.
- The department chair will lead the CAEP accreditation process.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Demonstrates experience directing/coordinating a degree program at the undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate level.
- Demonstrates experience with assessment which leads to accreditation.
- Demonstrates the ability to serve as a liaison between the department and college administration fostering community partnerships and professional development.
- The department chair must be committed to high-quality, student-centered teaching, curricular and pedagogical development, applied research, and faculty mentoring and professional development.
Nice to have
- Demonstrated evidence of prior academic leadership experience as a department head/chair in a CAEP-accredited program.
- Demonstrates ability to use and understand data to inform strategic planning and decision making for department.
- A proven record of teaching and research excellence.
- More than 4,000 students enroll yearly.

- The department chair will teach one course/semester with expertise in either Special Education, Educational Leadership, or Early Childhood Education.
