About the role

  • We're looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team in Lincolnshire, IL.
  • The Senior Tax Accountant is a member of the corporate tax team and contributes to the company's success through effective performance of indirect tax function.
  • As the Senior Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for indirect tax compliance and assisting with the related audits including sales and use, business personal property tax, tax analysis and mitigation as well as systems improvements and integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain taxability matrices, updating regularly for tax rate and law changes, changes in products, etc.
  • General system maintenance support (Vertex, Avalara, etc.)
  • General system maintenance support (Vertex, Avalara, etc.) Business personal property tax compliance function, including: Responsible for preparation of the property tax renditions to ensure accuracy and timely filing.
  • Manage property tax rendition and payment tax calendar Review communication from tax jurisdictions and respond to notices in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Minimum 3 years of multi-state sales and use tax experience in a public accounting firm or an equivalent medium/large corporate tax department. (Ideally candidate will have dealership experience).
  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with sales/use tax software and basic understanding of business applications and technology systems in support of operational processes.
  • Must be proactive, self-reliant and the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and internal control requirements.
  • Strong experience in a similar role within a Tax Reporting function in commerce or an accountancy firm, ideally with dealership experience.

Understand product taxability, tax resale/ exemption certificate and license rules by jurisdiction and provide tax advice, guidance and training to internal stakeholders Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skilled in the use of excel including V-look up and advance pivot tables. Compensation
