About the role

  • The Department of Community Corrections is currently searching for a Senior Accounting Assistant.
  • The Senior Accounting Assistant serve s as a key member of the Administrative Division.

Responsibilities

  • The Administrative Division of the Washington County Community Corrections provides essential operational support that enables our programs to function effectively and efficiently.
  • This position supports the financial backbone of the division by managing detailed accounting tasks, payroll, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the smooth flow of fiscal operations.
  • Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with staff, partner agencies, and vendors.
  • Our division works behind the scenes to ensure that financial, administrative, and operational procedures run smoothly-ultimately supporting our department's mission to promote accountability, support rehabilitation, and strengthen public safety.

Requirements

  • Possession of an Associate Degree in accounting, business, or related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of an Associate Degree in accounting, business, or related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR

Skills

  • Experience maintaining detailed financial records, ledgers, and accounts with a high level of accuracy.
  • Skill in preparing, reviewing, and reconciling journal entries.
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting procedures, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, especially in a fast paced operational environment.
  • Commitment to providing responsive, helpful customer service.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and provide guidance to other staff when needed.

Compensation

  • $30.53 - $37.08 Hourly
