About the role

  • Functions as an Orthopedic surgeon performing clinic-based and hospital-based medical services for patients requiring orthopedic care and surgical services.
  • The Surgeon provides comprehensive evidence based care to a designated patient population.
  • The Surgeon is accountable for the delivery of quality measures that will provide excellence in personalized healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • The Surgeon is responsible for patient care from evaluation in the clinic and the hospital inpatient, out-patient or emergency settings through the discharge of patients and/or discontinuation of follow-up care in the clinic setting and performs a variety of invasive tests and procedures to assist in diagnoses of and treatment of the orthopedic patient.
  • Creates a climate for professional practice with other disciplines.
  • Supports admission and transfer protocols, policies, procedures and guidelines related to the involvement of all Orthopedic subspecialists.
  • Collaborates with the Service Line Administrator to provide fiscal accountability for the service line.
  • Collaborates with Case Management and the Clinical Documentation Specialists.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President for Research and Service Line Administrators to identify research opportunities associated with Orthopedics.

Nice to have

  • 2 years Experience working full time as an orthopedic surgeon with those experiences in direct acute care, operating room and ambulatory clinic. - Preferred

  • Participates with the Director of Medical Education and Medical Director of Academic Affairs to assure appropriate teaching opportunities for residents and medical students.
  • Participates in the education of nurses and other ancillary professionals.
  • Valid AZ state medical license as MD or DO
