About the role

  • DCI is hiring a full-time Sport Performance Coordinator (Athletic Trainer).
  • This position will oversee the overall management of DCI's Athletic Program with a particular emphasis on injury prevention and rehabilitation of student athletes in grades 6-12.
  • This position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement policies and procedures for the Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning program in accordance with the Professional Standards Guidelines.
  • Treat athletic injuries with protection, rest, ice, compression, evaluation, support, cold/heat/ and hydrotherapy as needed or prescribed with the availability of modalities.
  • Maintain records including injury reports, home care instructions, referrals, treatment records, rehabilitation progress notes, and insurance information.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  • Develop, supervise, evaluate, and modify exercise programs for rehabilitation to help athletes return to a pre-injury status.
  • Design and instruct curricular strength and conditioning classes, as needed.
  • Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all school-sanctioned male and female athletic teams.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, correspondence and notices.
  • Collaborates with school personnel to develop school-wide initiatives to make schools safer and more effective.
  • Teachers and staff have the appropriate technology and support to do their work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) required
  • A Master's Degree in secondary education or this content area is preferred.
  • Good communication skills in communicating to parents and staff.
  • A current relevant professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency for example, the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
  • Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Clear background check.
  • Key Qualities & Skills:
  • It is expected to meet the school's professional, clinical, technical, communication and documentation requirements and standards and to make decisions based on established National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) guidelines.

Nice to have

  • Ability to use multiple technology platforms to guide instruction and communicate with students and families and proficiency with communicating using G-Suite tools, including Gmail, is preferred.

Skills

  • Coordinate and organize the daily Athletic Trainer functions with the Assistant Athletic Director and coaches of all teams.
  • Complete all reporting requirements to the district.
  • Review student physicals and releases to ensure authenticity.

Compensation

  • $63,113- $103,515 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience)
  • Conduct an annual needs-analysis for each sport team in conjunction with the sport coach at the conclusion of each sport season.
  • Complete an annual budgetary proposal for the program that includes routine maintenance, purchase of new equipment, and staffing needs.
  • Conduct an annual evaluation of departmental staff, including the design of professional development activities.
