About the role
- Under general supervision, the Criminal Justice Institute Instructor coordinates and instructs Florida Department of Law Enforcement Basic Recruit and Crossover Training Courses.
- Instructs Basic Recruit and Crossover Training programs as prescribed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the College.
- Reviews and administers end-of-course examinations.

- Maintains a safe and effective classroom environment.
Requirements
- Must be a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) certified instructor or have a CJSTC 82 Instructor Exemption.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a certified criminal justice officer or three (3) years' experience in the high-liability topic of instruction for which certification is sought.
- Must be a public speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.

- Organizes, records, and processes required training attendance, certification, and/or training documentation.
- This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds and be outside in the various elements of weather.
Compensation
- Participates in department, division, and CJI Instructor meetings at least once per year.
