About the role

  • This person will have a strong merchandising and planning background and is passionate about the Tuckernuck brand.
  • They are ultimately responsible for overseeing the overall Merchandise Planning and Inventory strategy for the Private Label verticals in conjunction with Merchandising Leadership to set and achieve sales and margin goals.
  • Core Responsibilities Responsible for the financial success of all product categories by meeting or exceeding sales, gross margin, and inventory turn goals by category and by vendor for Private Label verticals.

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Planning, Private Label will oversee the planning process and performance of the Private Label business to maximize sales by running and analyzing reports, developing financial and merchandise plans that fall in line and support overall company goals for sales, turn and margin.
  • Build and maintain the Private Label Seasonal Open to Buy, updating it weekly to ensure financial targets are met (revenue, margins, returns, cancellations and aged inventory)
  • Identify inventory levels needed to support replenishments and the markdown strategy for merchandise based on sell-through percent and planned product life span
  • Partner with Product Developers, Merchants, and Factories to maximize the flow of receipts and inventory
  • Partner with merchants to develop markdown strategy based on sell-through percent and planned product life span
  • Become subject matter expert in all reporting and ERP systems to help support cross functional teams and partners
  • Manage and mentor a team of planners to ensure all areas of the business are planned for and montiored
  • Build Private Label financial plans to achieve sales, margin and receipt targets by collaborating with Planners, Director of Planning for 3rd Party, VP of Planning & Strategic Growth, CFO, and Founders.
  • Build detailed monthly product category, brand, and product type assortment plans by month for all private label verticals in collaboration with VP/ Founders to create clear targets for development
  • Build KPI's by division in partnership with Marketing to ensure overall KPI's make sense

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in a retail or wholesale environment, including time as a Planner/Buyer, Merchandiser or as Retail Business Analyst
  • Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business or other related field
  • Management experience required
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proficiency in Excel

Nice to have

  • Experience in both excel based planning and systems planning is a plus

Compensation

  • Compensation for the role will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
  • The estimated annual compensation for this role is $ 140,000-$170,000; classified as full-time exempt and not eligible for overtime.
