About the role

  • The Director coordinates the University's cross-functional safety activities, including Clery Act mandates, emergency readiness, and operational safety, into a cohesive, standardized program.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Safety Governance & Leadership: Chair the Campus Safety Sub Committee, a key sub-group of the University Compliance Committee.
  • Through the sub-committee, the Director guides the development and implementation of the Campus-Wide Safety Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and implement a comprehensive safety plan mapped to federal and state standards, including OSHA, Clery, and NIMS/ICS.
  • Lead all-hazards planning and drive campus-wide ICS training (IS-100/200/700/800) aligned to FEMA and NFPA 1660 standards.
  • The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative leader who can influence across divisions, standardize practices, and drive measurable improvement in campus-wide safety outcomes.

Nice to have

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or specialized Clery Act Compliance training.

Compensation

  • Supervise the Risk & Insurance Manager in the annual insurance renewal process and the enforcement of multi-employer safety policies.

  • Bachelor's in Occupational Safety, Environment/Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in campus safety, regulatory compliance, risk management, or law enforcement within a higher education or complex institutional setting.
