- The Weitz Company is seeking an Industrial Preconstruction Manager to be located out of our Cedar Rapids, IA office.
- This role will provide oversight and leadership to assigned internal employees.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate building systems and schedules with trade partners, the operations and engineering team and design/build construction team to plan and budget for safety on each project
- Drive standardization of operating practices, business processes and reporting among business units
- Collaborate with operations, business development, preconstruction team members and other stakeholders to ensure projects are turned over for success with the expected level of profitability, and complete and accurate documentation is given at construction hand-off
- Understand the clients' needs to manage the process efficiently, ensure timely completion, understand local logistics/subcontractor and supplier market, and how BIM/LEED/LEAN can be best utilized
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors and co-workers
- Lead preconstruction meetings, when appropriate
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors and co-workers; initiate third party relationships when opportunities arise
Requirements
- To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each previously stated duty satisfactorily.
- Candidates must have previous industrial construction experience.
- A minimum of eight (8) years' experience of extensive estimating and/or project man agement in industrial-relate d construction field is required.
- Proficiency with operating systems and basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Business travel will be required

Nice to have
- A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or an industry related field is preferred.
Skills
- Candidates must also have the ability to accurately evaluate and interpret technical drawings.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Weitz core values while maintaining a "value added" approach to preconstruction.
- Technology: Proficiency with operating systems and basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Employee must have experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Timberline Estimating and the ability to learn other specific software.
