About the role

  • The Medical Receptionist is responsible for direct patient contact, including initial greeting, patient appointment scheduling, registration, insurance verification, communicating data to provider & staff, sending referrals, re-calling patients for follow-up appointments.
  • Competent in performing the following functions appropriate to the age of the patient, maintains a safe and clean care environment, quality improvement, assists in the training of the new students and volunteers.
  • Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission and objectives of Covenant House and performs other duties as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to recognize and de-escalate disruptive behavior. Demonstrates ability to maintain a calm environment in the waiting room.
  • Monitors provider schedules and troubleshoots as needed. Self-motivated and able to make decisions independently keeping all clinic staff and others informed and supporting Covenant House philosophy. Able to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and needed.

Nice to have

  • This position does not supervise any other position.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of programs.
  • Experience with EHR, ECW, ePaces, ETO preferred

Compensation

  • Maintains own clinical skills staying current in latest computer programs and processes. Completes internal and external referrals and scans documents into medical records. Completes annual competencies.
