About the role
- The Registered Nurse (RN) in Surgical Services provides professional nursing care to patients in a surgical setting.
- This role is responsible for the planning, delivery, and management of direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process and adhering to established standards of nursing practice.
- Requires current state licensure and registration as a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care for surgical patients, ensuring optimal outcomes.
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and maintain accurate documentation of patient care.
- Maintain equipment and ensure appropriate levels of supplies for surgical procedures.
- Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care within the surgical department.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, active or within 30 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
Nice to have
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience in a surgical or perioperative setting preferred.
- Certificates / License:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Missouri or a compact nursing license that permits practice in Missouri.
Skills
- Proficiency in managing emergency situations and adapting to rapidly changing conditions.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and surgical technology.
- Fine motor skills for handling surgical instruments and operating medical equipment.
