About the role

  • The practice encompasses corporate, civic, cultural, educational, transportation, residential, hospitality, office, retail, and mixed-use projects on a variety of scales.
  • The Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project accounting and billing functions across a range of current projects.
  • This position requires attention to detail, proactive communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with both the finance and project management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage billing requirements for complex contracts, including progress billing, retainage, and change orders.
  • Record all cash receipts and notify relevant staff (PMs, Partners, Principals) when project-related payments are received.
  • Manage accounts receivable, track client payments, resolve billing discrepancies, and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Maintain and monitor project budgets throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring they remain accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with consultants, ensuring smooth financial transactions and compliance with contract terms.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, consultants, and internal teams regarding project-related financial matters.
  • Assist the Marketing team with financial data and reporting requests to support proposal and marketing efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in all aspects of Project Accounting.
  • Project Accounting experience in Architecture, Interior Design and Engineering industry is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required to fulfill role responsibilities.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
