About the role
- Pacific Hospice and Palliative Care is seeking compassionate and caring individuals to join our Hospice Volunteer Team.
- Your volunteer time can be in-person, in our office or remote by phone.
- Your kindness, and presence can bring peace, dignity, and connection during one of life's most important journeys.
Responsibilities
- As a hospice volunteer, you will provide comfort, companionship, and emotional support to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses and to the loved ones caring for them.
- Make a Meaningful Impact Your support can provide comfort, reduce loneliness, and help patients and families feel cared for and supported.
- Create Genuine Connections Build rewarding relationships with patients, caregivers, and fellow volunteers while serving your community in a deeply meaningful way.
- Caregiver Relief (Respite Support) Provide companionship to patients so caregivers can take a short break to rest or attend to personal needs.
- Art, Music & Creative Support Share your talents through music, crafts, art, or other creative activities that bring joy and comfort to patients.
- Telephone Support Offer friendly check-in calls and emotional support to patients and family members.
- Bereavement Support Assist with grief support and follow-up care for families after the loss of a loved one.
Requirements
- Comprehensive Training & Ongoing Support No hospice experience is required.
- All volunteers are required to complete orientation and training prior to placement.
