  • Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Vice President Underwriter in our Retail Excess Casualty Business Unit.
  • We provide a consistent underwriting approach and efficient turnaround times and are supported by an experienced claims team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and expand the business portfolio by enhancing relationships and identifying new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development, claims, legal, and actuarial.
  • Collaborative team player with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with insureds, agents, and brokers, as well as across Sompo's organization

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 8 years of underwriting experience and authority.
  • Strong expertise in Excess Casualty insurance.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, negotiate effectively, and make business decisions within authority limits
  • this skill set includes strong financial acumen, organizational skills, and accountability with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to travel to market assigned territory to include overnight trips (25%).

Compensation

  • $125,000 - $200,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.

  • The total compensation opportunity for all regular, full-time employees is a combination of base salary and incentives that gets adjusted upfront based on overall Company performance with final awards based on individual performance.
